Well, it's been quite some time since my last post - life in the new job has been pretty busy, I'd forgotten how hard it is starting a new job, so much to learn in so little time!

The jump from IT security to performance testing has been an interesting one - the holistic view of systems design and architecture has definitely provided me with a good grounding to understand what our automated test harness is doing - it's written in (OO) Perl, using a Mysql database with Bash scripts used to glue it all together.

My primary role is to help with the development and day-to-day administration of the harness. My new team has an interesting mix of experience including mid-range unix, DB2 and mainframe.

The system we are working on is interesting, and the work challenging - I'm learning lots of new things! I've signed up for linux.conf.au in January (which will be held down in Melbourne). I look forward to meeting up with my old team mates at this event...
